Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained

Well I had good intentions in 2009 to start blogging regularly but life got in the way again. But as the old saying goes.... If at first you don't succeed, try again!!!!

I finished my garden friends quilt top and it is on the frame waiting to be quilted. I will post a photo when it is complete.

I became a Grandma to a wonderful little boy, whom my son and his wife named Dean Austin Edwards. He was born on 27th July whilst we were on route to the USA. We sent 2 wonderful weeks in Texas getting to know the little fellow then all to quickly we had to come home. It was so hard to leave them behind but I am grateful that we have the special memories of that time. I know there will be many more to come.
Looking forward to Christmas with the family on Boxing Day and will post more piccy's then.
Found this site the other day on another blog I follow.... Bunny Hill designs, all about colour. It is called Colourstrology. My November Colour is Heather Rose. It goes on to say that people born on the 22 nd November "tend to do things there own way". It also goes on to say that I have a keen intellect and a strong will. I have strong opinions and I dislike people that are petty and superficial. I have a need to share my knowledge and to have some degree of prominence. Due to your self-reliant persona not everyone is aware of the sensitivity that you have within. Probably quite true!!!!
until the next time

Next blocks Finished

Well it has been a few days since I last posted. I don't know how people can be bored when they retire. I seem to be busier now than when I was working full time. i have been busy getting music folders ready for our orchestra. My partner and I are members of the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra and I am the librarian. Our next concert on 5th April is to be based on Australian composers so looks like being a fun concert. My brain just seems to be filled with quilty ideas at the moment, so much so that I get a bit overwhelmed by all the ideas and am not sure where to start.......

I hope you like the photos of the next blocks that I have completed. This one is called "The Love Nest"

I saw this lovely block of the month when I was in the USA last year and fell in love with it. When I got home I found a shop here in Australia that was selling it and just had to subscribe. I have completed the first two blocks and have really enjoyed the process. the fabrics are just my country colours so here is a photo for you to see my first block.

A Day of Firsts

" When we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another". Helen Keller

Today is the first day of my blogging adventure. With family and friends scattered far and wide I have decided to have a place online where we can all meet and you can share more fully in our daily lives. The business of our lives often takes us away from one another and I know of often miss the little day to day things that are happening in my parents, siblings and children's lives.

Take today for example. I learnt that my No 3 son is getting married and also will become a dad for the first time making me a grandma also for the first time. He lives in Weatherford, Texas in the USA a long way from all his family here in Australia so what better way for him to share in our comings and goings than to have a blog. I also learnt that my neice Sam and her partner Martin have bought their first home and move in in 2 weeks. Lots of firsts today. It takes my mind back to the time my first husband and I bought our first home and the excitement and trepidation that came with it. I remember when I learnt I was to be a mother for the first time and telling my Mum she would be a grandma. and along with that came all the questions... Would I be able to manage? How would I know what to do? Well I have learnt to live with imperfection. Nobody is perfect, we all have limitations but it is what we do with the gifts we do have that matters the most so my gift to my family and friends is this little space in blogging land.
