How Time Fly's

Well I had every intention of updating weekly but that hasn't happened for lots of reasons. Today I will show you what I have been up to lately. I finally finished my birdy quilt and have it hanging in my dining room.

I also have my quilt Carolina Cabins on the quilting frame ready for quilting. I bought this kit in North Carolina last year after visiting Linda and Charlie, Les cousins. We went on a beutiful drive through the North Carolina countryside and saw all the barn quilts ( barns that have paintings of different quilt blocks) and we ended up at a lovely quilt store and i just had to have this quilt. my label dedicates this to Linda and Ruthie my two North Carolina buddies.

I have also been working on some baby quilts and clothes as I am going to be a grandma again in December and this time closer to home. My lovely daughter Beccy is herself going to be a Mum for the first time and due on her brother Dan's birthday. I am sooooo excited!!!!

And for the other little man in my life. Well what can I say. He is now 10 months old and growing so quickly. Here are a few photos of him at work with his Daddy.

Well that's it from my little corner of the world today, but I will leave you with this thought;

Counting My Blessings

I am going to try and at least keep this blog up to date weekly. I have decided this year to have a year of "Counting My blessings." There is so much in our lives to be thankful for and so my goal for this year is to daily find one thing to be especially grateful for and to record it in my journal.

I have been cleaning out my sewing room and I am ashamed to say that I found so many unfinished projects that there are to many to count ... well almost!!! I have 4 quilts waiting to be quilted on the frame and 2 boxes of unfinished items so another goal is to finish all of these and if I start a new project I cannot leave it if I get stuck and start something else because as my cleaning shows I never do get back to finishing things. at least that's the plan and hopefully I can stick to it.
Here is a photo a wolf quilt that I have just finished as a Christmas present for Les (my partner). He fell in love with the wolf panel when we were in the USA last year and I just had to give it a home. It has pride of place in our family room and he loves it.

Another UFO is my Sweet N Sassy by Monica Poole. It is a quilt as you go and I did a class at my local patchwork shop.

Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained

Well I had good intentions in 2009 to start blogging regularly but life got in the way again. But as the old saying goes.... If at first you don't succeed, try again!!!!

I finished my garden friends quilt top and it is on the frame waiting to be quilted. I will post a photo when it is complete.

I became a Grandma to a wonderful little boy, whom my son and his wife named Dean Austin Edwards. He was born on 27th July whilst we were on route to the USA. We sent 2 wonderful weeks in Texas getting to know the little fellow then all to quickly we had to come home. It was so hard to leave them behind but I am grateful that we have the special memories of that time. I know there will be many more to come.
Looking forward to Christmas with the family on Boxing Day and will post more piccy's then.
Found this site the other day on another blog I follow.... Bunny Hill designs, all about colour. It is called Colourstrology. My November Colour is Heather Rose. It goes on to say that people born on the 22 nd November "tend to do things there own way". It also goes on to say that I have a keen intellect and a strong will. I have strong opinions and I dislike people that are petty and superficial. I have a need to share my knowledge and to have some degree of prominence. Due to your self-reliant persona not everyone is aware of the sensitivity that you have within. Probably quite true!!!!
until the next time

Next blocks Finished

Well it has been a few days since I last posted. I don't know how people can be bored when they retire. I seem to be busier now than when I was working full time. i have been busy getting music folders ready for our orchestra. My partner and I are members of the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra and I am the librarian. Our next concert on 5th April is to be based on Australian composers so looks like being a fun concert. My brain just seems to be filled with quilty ideas at the moment, so much so that I get a bit overwhelmed by all the ideas and am not sure where to start.......

I hope you like the photos of the next blocks that I have completed. This one is called "The Love Nest"

Garden Friends

I saw this lovely block of the month when I was in the USA last year and fell in love with it. When I got home I found a shop here in Australia that was selling it and just had to subscribe. I have completed the first two blocks and have really enjoyed the process. the fabrics are just my country colours so here is a photo for you to see my first block.
